RHMS Rockets were active on multiple fronts, with cross country competing in Winfield and football facing Wellington.
Cross country athletes earned four medals and achieved seven new personal records. The eighth-grade girls' team tied for first place! They will compete next in El Dorado on Tuesday.
Football rolled over the Knights with wins for both the seventh and eighth-grade teams. Neither team allowed Wellington to score. The seventh-grade team secured a 36-0 win, as did the eighth-grade team, also winning 36-0. The Rockets take on Circle next Thursday!
Let's not forget the RHMS cheerleaders!! They kept the spirit alive as they cheered their teams to victory!!
RHMS Stuco is planning its annual Veteran's Day assembly for Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025. We would like to honor all active duty and veteran military members related to our middle school students. Students who requested red forms are bringing them home to complete. Please make sure all forms are returned to Mrs. Pinick at the school by October 16, so we have time to mail out invitations. Another great night of volleyball! The Rockets took on Augusta and Mulvane with 7th grade traveling to Mulvane and 8th grade hosting. 8th had a sweep taking the wins over Augusta and Mulvane!! 7th grade had a split night as "A" team beat both Augusta and Mulvane. "B" team fell short tonight losing both games. Proud of the hard work these athletes continue to put in! Way to go ROCKETS!!

RHMS fall picture re-take day will be Wednesday, Oct. 15. If your student needs picture retakes, or was absent on our original picture day, please make sure they are present on the 15th. Due to the district-wide pep rally on Friday for homecoming, we would like to remind parents that students will be at the district stadium beginning at 2:00pm. If you have scheduled appointments after that time, please either pick students up before 2:00pm or allow extra time to pick them up, as we will have to retrieve them from the stadium. Due to the rain and conditions of the course, RHMS Cross Country at Derby has been cancelled today. At this time, we do not have a date to reschedule. Cross Country will have practice today after school as normal.

Both 7th and 8th grade volleyball is at McPherson tonight. 7th grade will play at the Community Building (122 E. Marlin St.) and the 8th grade will play at the Middle School. Games will start at 4:30 at each location.

That's right!! RHMS earned a "I" rating today at the state fair after being rained out yesterday!! A "I" rating is the best rating and the band sounded amazing in earning this rating!! Congrats RHMS band! Rocket Proud!! 🚀🚀
If you missed our weekly video from Friday, one of the goals of RHMS this year is increasing in-person attendance. To help motivate students to attend each day, we are holding a monthly grade-level competition to see which grade has the highest attendance percentage. The winning grade level each month will receive a prize. Since August was a short month, we will officially be kicking off the contest this month. However, we did post our August results for the students. Good luck, students! Looking forward to seeing you each day!

Parents, if you are planning on attending the State Fair with the 7th & 8th grade band today, all fair parking lots are closed due to the rain. Guests may park on the west side of the Hutchinson Sports Arena (711 E 11th St) beginning at 7:30am. Shuttle services will run every 15 minutes transporting patrons to and from the fairgrounds with drop off and pick up at Gate 9 on Plum St. Handicapped parking is near Gate 5 on State Fair Rd.
Due to severe thunderstorms in Hutchinson, the 7th/8th grade band performance for today has been cancelled. Students will be returning to the school today. They will be heading back to Hutchinson tomorrow, Sept. 9 (same time), instead. We apologize for any inconvenience.
MS students who purchased an ID card will be coming home in the next day or two with their card. Please check with them to ensure the card made it home. Replacement cards can be purchased for $5, but are made offsite and are not immediately available. Please contact the main office with questions.
