Last week, Dr. McPherron and Superintendent Lambert had the unique opportunity to step inside a science lab at RHHS and observe class, where Mrs. Reed, our Zoology and Anatomy & Physiology teacher, led her students through some dissection labs.
𓇼 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗰𝗣𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗻 joined the starfish dissection and even suited up with gloves to feel the starfish before the lesson began. The students were eager to share what they had learned, confidently explaining the different parts and answering our questions like pros. It was clear they had not only absorbed the material but were genuinely engaged in the learning process.
🐷 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 visited during the fetal pig dissection and said the experience was fascinating and enlightening. He was especially impressed by the students’ thoughtful questions, answers, and careful observations.
These labs aren’t just about memorizing parts of an organism, they help bring science to life. Dissection gives students the chance to explore real anatomical structures, deepening their understanding of how organisms function and preparing them for future studies in biology, medicine, veterinary science, and more.
The specimens used in these labs were sourced from Carolina Biological Supply, a trusted educational provider that supports K-12 and college classrooms with high-quality science materials. Their mission is to help schools create meaningful, hands-on science experiences that connect classroom learning to the world around us.

Kylee has been selected as a recipient of the Wanda Mae Vinson Scholarship, awarded through the Kansas Association for Youth (KAY). This $400 scholarship is more than just financial support, it's a recognition of Kylee’s outstanding leadership, dedication to service, and commitment to upholding the high ideals of KAY.
Kylee was selected from senior KAY applicants across the entire state, making this honor even more impressive! In the history of our Rose Hill KAY Club, only one other student, Haley Slade in 2015, has received this distinction.
This scholarship is funded by former and current KAY members who believe in the power of youth leadership and service.
Kylee, we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see how you continue to lead, inspire, and make a difference in college and beyond.

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! Mrs. Reed's A&P students had a couple of guest speakers last month. A huge shout out to 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆, who took time to teach our students how to take blood pressure. It was a great opportunity to learn from a skilled health professional right here in the high school!
Also want to thank 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘀, a Medical Assistant at KU Wichita Center for Health Care and a future nurse, for visiting the class and showing students how to give injections and perform nasal swabs.
We love seeing our students gain hands-on experience from people doing the work every day. Thank you to the both of you for inspiring the next generation of healthcare heroes! 🙌
