Parents as Teachers Events

Yesterday morning felt a little extra special. ❤️
We gathered all of our staff members for our annual end-of-year breakfast (shoutout awesome food service!) to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. But it was more than just breakfast. It was laughter echoing across tables, hugs between busy moments, and those “remember when…” conversations that only happen when a year full of memories comes to a close.

But the moment that stayed with us the longest was honoring the people who have quietly shaped the heart of this place for years... our retirees.
• Aaron Jackson — 13 years
• Tim Robertson — 3 years
• Joel Blessant — 30 years
• Denise Fillmore — 29 years
• Robert Hansen — 48 years
• Brenda Wheeler — 22 years
• Sandra Bumpus — 20 years
• Cynthia Shavlik — 15 years

That’s 180 years of combined dedication to Rose Hill Schools.
180 years of early mornings, late nights, extra effort, and steady care for our students who will carry pieces of them forever.

“Some people don’t just work in a school... they become part of its story. And even when they leave, their chapters are the ones everyone remembers.”

To our retirees: thank you for leaving this place better than you found it. We hope retirement gives you slow mornings, full hearts, and all the time in the world for what comes next.

You will always belong here. 🚀 #AlwaysARocket #RocketPride

Some people keep our schools running in ways most never see ... and today we’re celebrating four of them 💙
🩺 Nurse Drew, the steady helper our youngest students count on without even realizing it.
🩺 Nurse Treto, who somehow knows exactly what each little one needs before they can explain it.
🩺 Nurse Grace, the calm voice in the occasional middle school craziness.
🩺 Nurse Emily, taking care of the big kids and the big picture across the district.

You’re the quiet “we’ve got this” in the middle of every unexpected moment. And we’re really lucky you’re ours.
Happy International Nurse’s Day 🩺💙

High school libraries are more than just shelves of books ... and Mrs. A brings them to life in the best way ❤️

Here’s what makes her such an important part of our school community:
📖 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁: Connecting with students. Talking about what they’ve read, their interests, and even their dreams for the future.
💬 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆: Her space is a little bit of everything… library, homework help center, creative space, and sometimes even a place students go just to talk things out. And she’s always there for it.

💡 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨!):
“I’m not a reader” isn’t really true! It just means you haven’t found the right book yet.

📚 There are so many genres, formats, and ways to read today. There truly is something for everyone.
➡️ Her advice? Give reading another chance... and ask a librarian for help finding your perfect match!

Mrs A, HS Librarian quick facts for Library Week

Our students are lowkey carrying the library stats 👀

Here’s what’s actually happening behind the scenes…
🔥 50,000+ books checked out every year
📚 That’s like 291 books EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
📖 Fiction is still the main character
💥 Graphic novels = 20%+ of Middle and High School checkouts

And what are people reading??
🐯 Elementary: animals, sports, biographies
🏆 Middle: sports, biographies, world records
🏀 High School: cars, sports (basketball 👀), history

So basically… there’s something for everyone!
If you haven’t stopped by yet this week, this is your sign 🚨

Come find something you actually want to read!

Yesterday, our middle school teachers proudly wore purple in recognition of Kansas Purple Up Day, honoring the strength and resilience of our military-connected students 💜 (thanks to Mr. Tucker for the design and printing).

As a Purple Star School District, Rose Hill Schools is committed to supporting military families and ensuring every student feels seen, valued, and connected. April is the Month of the Military Child, and we’re continuing the celebration by 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 for the rest of the month!
