Our students are lowkey carrying the library stats 👀

Here’s what’s actually happening behind the scenes…
🔥 50,000+ books checked out every year
📚 That’s like 291 books EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
📖 Fiction is still the main character
💥 Graphic novels = 20%+ of Middle and High School checkouts

And what are people reading??
🐯 Elementary: animals, sports, biographies
🏆 Middle: sports, biographies, world records
🏀 High School: cars, sports (basketball 👀), history

So basically… there’s something for everyone!
If you haven’t stopped by yet this week, this is your sign 🚨

Come find something you actually want to read!

Fuel our Library - national library week

Yesterday, our middle school teachers proudly wore purple in recognition of Kansas Purple Up Day, honoring the strength and resilience of our military-connected students 💜 (thanks to Mr. Tucker for the design and printing).

As a Purple Star School District, Rose Hill Schools is committed to supporting military families and ensuring every student feels seen, valued, and connected. April is the Month of the Military Child, and we’re continuing the celebration by 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 for the rest of the month!

We’re also already looking ahead! Next year, we plan to expand our efforts even further throughout April. We can’t wait to share what’s in store as the time gets closer!

🎭💀 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 - 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒 𝐈𝐓! 💀🎭
The Rose Hill High School Drama Department is going out with a bang (and maybe a little poison 😏) with the darkly hilarious classic ❞𝗔𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗰 & 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝗲❞!

If you’ve never seen it before, you’re in for a treat: this comedy follows drama critic Mortimer Brewster as he discovers that his sweet, lovable aunts… have a very unusual hobby... helping lonely old men “move on” with a glass of homemade elderberry wine (hint: it’s not just elderberries 👀). Add in a delusional brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, another brother who looks like a horror movie villain, and a whole lot of chaos, and you’ve got one of the funniest plays ever written.

It’s fast, ridiculous, and packed with laughs from start to finish! Perfect for a night out!

📍 NEWLY RENOVATED Rose Hill High School Auditorium
📅 Friday & Saturday, April 17 & 18
🕢 Show starts at 7:30 PM (Doors open at 7:00)
🎟️ Students: $3
🎟️ Adults: $5

Bring your friends, bring your family, and come support our talented students for the final production of the year. Help pack the house and send them off with a full audience! 🎉

💜 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐩 𝐃𝐚𝐲 – 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟓! 💜
Last year, Rose Hill School District was honored to be recognized as a Kansas Purple Star School District, a designation awarded to schools that show a strong commitment to supporting military-connected students and families.
Purple Star schools help ensure students whose families serve in the military - active duty, National Guard, or Reserve - are supported during transitions and set up for success in school and beyond.|

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, we’re asking everyone in the district ... from groundskeepers and custodians to teachers, staff, administrators, and students ... to wear purple in support of our military families!

💜 Why purple? It represents all branches of the military, combining their colors into one.

Let’s come together and show our appreciation! 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐩, 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥!

Purple Up, Rose Hill -- April 15 2026

22 KAY Club members from Rose Hill High School recently went on their spring field trip 🌱🐧

In the morning, they volunteered at the Salvation Army’s downtown community garden, preparing garden beds and planting seeds to support the local community. Claire Crosby, KAY Club President, also presented a donation to help further the organization’s efforts.

The group then spent the afternoon at the zoo, where members selected this year’s ZooPal animals. KAY will be adopting the penguins and red panda, continuing a long-standing club tradition. Their club name will be proudly displayed near these animals throughout the coming year.

A day full of service, teamwork, and fun! KAY members are excited to keep making a difference!

We just received word from RoadSafe that they’ll be working on the Silknitter railroad crossing tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday, so the crossing will be closed.

Please follow the posted detour signs, give yourself a little extra time, and maybe an extra dose of patience for your fellow drivers.

As always, we’re just the messengers and this is not a City project either, so any questions will need to go directly to RoadSafe. You can find their contact info and more details here:

Thanks for hanging in there, everyone!

Again, just the messengers here. But in case you haven't heard, Butler County will begin a major road project on N Rose Hill Rd/SW Butler Rd (SW 170th to SW 155th) starting Monday, April 6, 2026.

⚠️ This is a COUNTY project, not a city project—we’re sharing this to keep everyone informed.

What to expect:
‣ Road closures south of SW 160th St
‣ One northbound lane open in some phases
‣ Detours and shifting traffic patterns
‣ Access to homes and emergency services will remain open

If last week’s work at the railroad was any indication, we know this can be frustrating. This project will last longer, so please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

We’ll continue to share updates as we get them and we'll send a reminder notification out the day before it starts, as well.
