The 1st Annual Cookout & Social held on August 12th was Successful
The first district-wide community event for the beginning of the 2019-20 school year was well received. Was it "hot"? Yes! It was nice to see everyone come out and participate despite the high temperature and humidity. There was plenty of ice-cold water and a BIG water cooler that you could stand in front of to cool down.
After the brief early afternoon shower the sun came out and the crowd of students (new and returning), parents, community members, and staff poured through the gates. As they entered they were given a schedule and students were given a wristband so staff members were able to identify the attendance center of the student and welcome them to the district. The colors of the wristbands were Pre-K-rainbow, Kindergarten-red, 1st-yellow, and 2nd-blue; 3rd-orange, 4th-purple, and 5th-green; 6th, 7th, and 8th-teal; 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th lime green.
Once the concession stand opened, everyone gathered to pickup their hotdog, bag of chips and cookie. There was a large tank similar to a livestock tank filled with ice-cold bottled water. Tables and chairs were provided, and there was seating in the bleachers.
All USD 394 Staff members wore light blue shirts that said "STAFF" on the back.
