KAKE Apple Award Given to Intermediate School Teacher
On Wednesday, November 14th at noon, KAKE TV Anchor Alyson Acklin, Mr. Tarbox from Davis Moore, and a Representative from Project Teacher visited Mrs. DeMars 5th grade classroom to present her with the KAKE Golden Apple Award.
Mrs. DeMars has been teaching at Rose Hill Intermediate School since 2015. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (BA) and Tarleton State University (M.Ed.). She currently teaches all 5th grade core subjects.
Winners are featured every Monday night on KAKE News at 5:00 p.m., and receive the prestigious Golden Apple trophy from Davis-Moore, plus $1,000 worth of school supplies through Project Teacher. All the students in the classroom received a cookie from Lane Enterprises McDonald's.
KAKE has been giving this award since 2003 to teachers who are creative in their teaching methods, and engage students to learn by using other activities. Mrs. DeMars will join the more than 500 Golden Apple winners including the following teachers who have won in the past.
