Launch the media gallery 1 playerRose Hill Schools and Credit Union of America are pleased to announce an offering of Teacher Grants Ideas Financed to Rose Hill Intermediate Teacher Tonja McCulloch. Mrs. McCulloch submitted an application last March 19th, and was selected as a winner of $500!
Credit Union of America hopes to enhance the educational process by offering financial aid to those who wish to supplement the regular curriculum with special activities. A task force of Credit Union of America employees and volunteer members were responsible for reviewing the applications they received. Mrs. McCulloch will be asked to let Credit Union of America know the outcome of the classroom project and expenditures.
The 5th grade teachers wanted to help their students become more engaged with reading while connecting to a historic event. Mrs. McCulloch's class project submission was for Revolution Novel Study. She stated, "Making history engaging for students is possibly one of the most difficult tasks for teachers. One of the ways is to make it relatable in someway, and secondly, it needs to offer learning opportunities for multiple learning styles. I would like to use the New York Times best selling and popular I survived book, "I survived the Revolutionary War." This instantly makes history relatable, as the main characters are school age children and families."
Mrs. McCulloch will purchase the "I Survived the Revolutionary War" books and resources upon receipt of the grant. Students will begin their novel study in December of this school year. Future students will have access to utilize this novel study.
