Rose Hill Middle School Veterans Day Celebration
Veterans Day Celebration – On November 11, 2016 at 2:15 p.m., the RHMS 7th grade StuCo members hosted our 2nd Annual Veterans Day celebration. The assembly opened with everyone standing and clapping for the veterans as they entered into the gym. The Honor Guard presented the flags, the “Star Spangled Banner” was sung by Riley Baker (7th) followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Sarah Kellogg (7th). The program included patriotic music performed by RHMS students. The 8th grade all-year choir sang, “Song for the Unsung Hero” and the 7th / 8th grade bands joined together to play a tribute to all the branches of the military services. Special presentations were also included in the event.
Nearly 50 veterans were in attendance and recognized for their service. Photos of our veterans, both present and past, were projected digitally during the assembly. A world map was displayed on the wall in the commons area and the Veterans used pushpin flags to mark the places where they served.
We want to thank everyone who planned, organized, participated, and attended this special event. A deep appreciation to Mrs. Cindy Bastian, RHMS teacher and StuCo sponsor, for the endless hours she invested in planning this event and to Mrs. Cindy Bradford, Rose Hill Historical Society, for the wonderful military display she created.
