SOUPER-SUPPER

Teachers Mrs. Julie Simpson, Mrs. Donna Meyer, and Mrs. PJ Schrader supervised as the students took part in the 8^th Annual Holiday Souper-Supper preparations.  Menus included chicken and rice soup, traditional chili, taco soup, cheeseburger soup and chicken tortilla soup.

As the soup simmered, students were to plan a meal for 10-12 people on a $100 budget using the weekly ad from the local Apple Market grocery store.  Parent volunteers assisted the students as they figured out how they would conquer this task.  There were ‘recorders’ who made a list, ‘clippers’ were in charge of clipping the ads and coupons and ‘collectors’ who were to keep all of the pieces of paper together.  Each student was able to take home a list of the recipes and was encouraged to prepare a meal for their family during Thanksgiving break.

“It was a great way to get the students working together.  It also helps them appreciate and be thankful for all of the time and effort that goes into a nice Thanksgiving meal,” said Schrader.
