PTC MINUTES September 26, 2006
President Gena Wade welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.
Thank you
Applebee’s gift cards were given to Angela Boese and Debbie Kill to thank them for their past service on the PTC board. One will also be given to Barb Nelson, who was not able to make the meeting.
Minutes
Minutes were reviewed. Jennifer Cody explained that the Celebration book information was incorrect and will be changed to $10.00 to purchase a book and $3.00 to purchase the AR test to go with it. Debbie Kill made a motion to approve the August minutes with that change and a second was given by Kerri Brownell. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report
Kelli Farber went over the budget report first and explained how she did it. She switched programs to make it easier for her to complete. Julie Mann is concerned that it is difficult to read. Kelli will look at it and see if she can make the changes Julie asked for. Kelli then went over the treasurer’s report for the month’s of April through September and explained how to read it. A motion was made by Suzanne Bloir-Pappen to approve the treasurer’s report with a second given by Janet Boyer. Motion passed.
School Store
Leslie Black will be calling for volunteers for the school store. If anyone would like to volunteer to help, contact Gena. Kerri Brownell stated that we are still finding out where the store will be located.
Celebration Books
The August minutes will be changed to $10.00 per book with $3.00 for an AR test. It was recommended that we might want to advertise it more so parents will know more about it.
Dining Around Town
Jennifer Herrera reported our Dining Around Town at Pizza Hut raised $81.00 in tips and just under $320.00 from Pizza Hut. It was a very successful night! We will separate the schools for the next three Dining nights at Pizza Hut to help with volunteers. Primary will have one on December 8th, Intermediate will have one on February 23rd, and Middle school will have one on April 13th. We are going to try to get more teacher’s to volunteer as the kids love being waited on by their teachers.
Yum Yum Fridays
Primary school will no longer be having yum-yum Fridays. We will be checking with the intermediate school to see what they decided.
By-Laws
The only change was made to Article X #9. Gena explained that by being able to vote on something at the same meeting it is discussed might be beneficial using the example that if our yearbook camera breaks and we have to wait 1-2 months to replace it, we will miss out on the use of it until we can vote to replace it. She asked for discussion, comments, or concerns. It was agreed that we like being able to vote on purchases rather than having to table it and wait at the same meeting we discuss it.
Julie asked that we change Article lX #1 and #2 to August instead of September so that we can approve the budget in August.
Julie Mann made a motion to approve the By-Laws as amended and a second was given by Kathy Logback. Motion passed.
Skate Nights
Lori Mounts discussed some trouble with delivery of reminders from the skate center for the last skate night and clarified how we make money on them. We get $2.00 per admission for every admission after the first 50. The first 50 admissions do not count toward any money we make. She thinks the 7:00-9:00 timeslot is better to get higher attendance. We have 2 at the 5:00-7:00 timeslot and 2 at the 7:00-9:00 timeslot this year and will look at the attendance when scheduling next year’s skate nights.
Yearbook
The deadline is September 29th. There has been 1 deposit of just over $900.00. Another one is expected after the 29th.
Spirit wear
Melinda McKnown is working with Shirts Plus to come up with a design. There may be an additional set-up cost to get the sample shirts. We will know more about this at the next meeting.
Fall Festival
We are not going to have a booth at the Fall Festival due to the cost and the date coming up quickly. It was decided we could make most of our profit through sales at school and sending order forms home with the students.
NEW BUSINESS
Home room parent meeting
Angela Boese and Jennifer Herrera stated a tentative date of October 12th at 6:00 for the homeroom parent meeting. Angela will send out flyers once it is approved to have it that night.
Liaisons
Wendy Weiss will be helping the Primary and Intermediate as a liaison.
Family Pictures
Staci Rodman said Ashley DeMoss would be doing this fundraiser with us. She will charge a $10.00 sitting fee per family (7 or less people) and donate it to the PTC. She went over some of the prices and the pictures will be taken at the school. A spot is yet to be decided. We will set up appointments for every 20 minutes and pictures will be viewed on a computer and ordered on the spot. If we have a large response, we will add a day. We are checking on getting her for Saturday and Sunday, November 4th and 5th. Staci will contact Ashley to set up the date.
Dream Dinners
Jennifer Herrera spoke and handed out flyers. For a six-week period Dream Dinners will donate $20.00 for every 12-meal plan and $10.00 for every 6-meal plan that is purchased by someone that mentions Rose Hill PTC.
Library Book Fair (hot dog feed)
October 19th PTC will run a hot dog feed at the middle school library and October 17th PTC will run a hot dog feed at the primary/intermediate library. Prices will stay at $2.00 per meal. Liaisons will be asked to get volunteers and donations of cookies. Gena will check into other donations. The middle school would like to use their profits for books and the primary/intermediate library would like to use their for a William Allen White party that will be held in the spring.
Library carts
Angela Boese talked about carts that are used by the K, 1, 2 teachers to bring their books to the library. Six teachers need one. The cost is about $20.00 a piece for a total of $121.00. It was approved that PTC would purchase these out of profits from the dining around town night.
Volleyball and Auction Concession stands
Kelli Farber was approached by the rec center about running a concession stand for a volleyball tournament on October 28th. PTC would be totally in charge and would get 100% of the profits. The tournament will only be held if the gym is completed. Kelli will check with Mr. Linot about approval and rules.
Kelli also talked about PTC running a concession stand at her grandmother’s auction on the 21st of October from 8:00-4:00. Again, PTC will be totally in charge of it and receive 100% profit. Kelli has volunteer sheets to sign up for both concession stands.
Haunted House
Gena talked about the fundraiser of working at a haunted house with the parents of seniors. It pays about $8.00 per hour for each person that volunteers. We will take names of people interested in volunteering. Orientation is on October 4th if anyone is interested in attending.
Kathy Logback made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:40 and Renee Cunningham seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned.
Winners of the Applebee’s certificates were Renee Cunningham and Wendy Weiss.
