Rockets Defeat Newton in 3OT
The Rocket football team had an exciting game against the Newton Railers last Friday night. The Rockets put the first points on the board with a 10 yard touchdown run by Jake Haydon. The Railers capitalized on a high snap into the endzone causing a saftey for the Rockets. The Railers then would score twice more making the Rockets down by a touchdown. In the 4th quarter the Rockets drove down near the endzone, but the Railers defense held the Rockets to the inch-line on 4th and goal. The Rocket defense caused a quick 4th down and Newton was forced to punt. The Rocket special teams came up big when Myles Pinick blocked the punt into the endzone where Cody Knuth jumped on the ball for a touchdown, which forced the game into overtime. During the first two overtimes both teams scored and kept the game tied. The Rocket defense in the 3rd overtime over powered the Newton line stopping the Railers on 4th and short. The Rocket offense, needing only a score to win, handed the ball to Jake Haydon who bounced the run outside and scored to end the game. Rose Hill topped Newton 34-28. |

Volleyball Finishes 2nd in Ark City
The Rose Hill Volleyball team tops Mulvane, Winfield, and Andover Central on their quest to the championship game. The Lady Rockets lost their 1st game against Circle in two games but came back strong to meet them once more in the finals. The first game the Rockets defeat Circle 25-19, but Circle fired back winning the second game 25-20. The Lady Rockets went on to a third and final game. The Rockets got down early 12-20 but fought back. Both teams battled back and forth throughout the rest of the game but came up short in the end losing 26-28. The Rockets all in all had a great tournament losing twice both to Circle. The Rockets were the Runner-ups of the Ark City tournament, with Hannah Hodges, Michelle O'Dell, and Courtney McCune making the all tournament team. |
