Rockets Qualify for Playoffs!
The Rocket football team had their backs against the wall Thursday night as their slim playoff hopes would depend on the outcome of two different games. In order to qualify for the playoffs, the Rockets needed to defeat Augusta by at least 13 points and have Andover Central defeat Andover by at least 8 points. This would allow Rose Hill to win the tie breaker based upon points and qualify as the second team out of the district as Rose Hill, Andover, and Augusta would all finish with 1-2 district records. The Rockets came out and scored 21 points in the first quarter and added another touchdown in the second quarter to take a 28-7 halftime lead. Determined to keep up their end of the deal, the Rockets continued their good play during the second half to capture the 38-14 victory and then celebrated the news that Andover Central had defeated Andover by 11 points. The Rockets now head to Mulvane Tuesday for a Bi-District matchup with the 9-0 Wildcats, who defeated the Rockets 34-31 in overtime last month. |

Rockets Advance in Regionals
The Rocket soccer team faced a tough Wichita Independent team in the first round of Regionals that they had previously defeated 3-2 last month. This game proved to be just as tough as the Rockets had to fight hard for a 2-1 victory. Keaton Miller scored first for the Rockets on an assist by Dylan Simmons. The Rockets took a 1-0 lead into halftime. However, Independent then came back and tied it 1-1 with about 20 minutes left in the game. The Rockets then picked up the intensity and scored on a goal by Josh Aubuchon with the assist once again from Dylan Simmons. The Rocket defense then stepped up and prevented Independent from scoring again. The Rockets now face the second seeded Andover Trojans in the second round of the Regional Playoffs Friday night at 7:00 at Andover District Stadium. |
