Football Falls in Early Districts
The Rocket Football team opened the first game of districts Friday night against the 5-1 Andover Central Jaguars. The Jaguars put the first points on the board, capitalizing on a Rocket turnover. The Rockets, in a slight hole, would pull themselves out with a 62 yard scamper by Jake Haydon allowing the Rockets to close in on the Jaguars. The Rockets, down seven going into halftime, managed to tie the game up in the 3rd with a 28 yard TD pass from Shirley to Hensley. Andover Central shot down the Rocket momemtum scoring on the next drive. Rose Hill fought hard in the fourth but fell short to the talented Central Jaguars. The Rockets drop their first district game, losing to Central 31-14. The Rockets will have to bounce back this Friday against the Andover Trojans. |

Volleyball Fights for 2nd
The Rocket Volleyball team traveled to Clearwater to participate in the Clearwater tournament. The Ladies opened up with a morning game against the Douglass Bulldogs. The Rockets handled the Bulldogs early winning in two games. Their next opponent, Chaparral, wouldn't stifle the Rockets from becoming victorious. The Rockets would fly by Chaparral 25-19 and 25-17. In the Quaterfinals the ladies matched up against the Hesston Swathers. The Swathers would be no contest for the Rockets and the ladies advanced on to the semi-finals. The Rockets had their work cut out for them against the Andale Indians. The Rockets lost their first game but bounced back winning the next two. The ladies traveled through the bracket and finally arrived at the championship game against the Clearwater Indians. The Rockets fired out in the first game winning 25-20, but fell short in the end losing the next two. The ladies finished second on an overall great tournament. |
